LiveWire Chicago Theatre
LiveWire Chicago Theatre is an Illinois not-for-profit theater arts organization based in Chicago. LiveWire, established in 2006, is a collective company of artists with a common drive to develop theatre that is unique and vital to the world we live in. Their mission is to expose honesty in the modern theatre of both new and established playwrights.
Past seasons have included the works of Jean-Paul Sartre No Exit[1], Timberlake Wertenbaker Love of the Nightingale[2], Mark Healy's adaptation of John Fowles' novel The Collector[3] and original work A/other Lover[4], Soldiers: The Desert Stand[5] by Joshua Aaron Weinstein, VisionFest 2008[6], Eric Bogosian's Red Angel[7] and David Lindsay-Abaire's Wonder of the World[8].
The company has received three Jeff Recommendations and has been nominated twice. Their upcoming 2009–2010 season includes their second annual festival of short plays, VisionFest 2009 and the World Premiere of Lower Debt by Joshua Aaron Weinstein, which the company will develop as part of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs INCUBATOR Series in the Fall[9] then fully mount in the Spring of 2010.
